9STAR’s ActiveShareFS solution enables automation of federated identity and access management in Microsoft SharePoint 2016 using Shibboleth or ElasticSSO Identity Provider. SharePoint administrators are now able to provide secure federated single sign-on (SSO) access to different SharePoint sites and content for different sets of users using Microsoft ADFS and Shibboleth or ElasticSSO Identity Provider. As a result, users get seamless end-to-end SSO experience across all Apps without having to input passwords multiple times.
In a federated SSO environment, there may not be a direct connection between the SharePoint server and user attribute/authentication sources such as Microsoft Active Directory. ActiveShareFS solution processes the user attributes received as part of the WS-Fed claims from the Microsoft ADFS server during the federated login process, and maps them to SharePoint user profile properties. As a result, the SharePoint administrator is now able to use the SharePoint PeoplePicker to assign Usernames or Roles to appropriate SharePoint Groups for access control and management.
ActiveShareFS solution is deployed on a standalone SharePoint 2016 WFE server or a Server Farm via PowerShell. The solution can be deployed on-premises or it can be cloud hosted and managed by 9STAR.
